DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Alabama will be hosting its 13th annual severe weather preparedness tax holiday.
The tax holiday will allow Alabama shoppers to purchase common severe weather supplies free of tax.
From February 23 through February 25, there will be no sales tax on select items priced at $60 or less. Those items include:
- Batteries
- Weather radios
- Flashlights
- Tarps
- Plywood and other items for protecting windows during severe weather
- Ice chests and coolers
- Ice packs
- First aid kits
- Fire, smoke, and carbon dioxide detectors
Additionally, portable generators and cords costing $1,000 or less will also be included in the tax-free weekend.
