HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Governor Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency ahead of the impending severe winter weather for 25 counties in Alabama.
The State of Emergency is in effect for the following counties:
Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, Pickens, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.
Gov. Ivey released the following statement on the severe weather:
“We are anticipating unusually cold temperatures in Alabama this week, so I am urging everyone to be prepared, take caution traveling and stay weather aware.”
The State of Emergency will be in effect from 2 p.m. Sunday.
