Strong winds, severe storms possible Friday in South Carolina: Here's the latest timing
COMMITMENT 2024 COVERAGE. WE ARE LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY FROM THE IOWA CAUCUS. TONIGHT GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FORMER SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR NIKKI HALEY AND FLORIDA <CHRIS CHRISTIE/(R) FMR. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: "IT'S CLEAR TO ME TONIGHT THAT THERE ISN'T A PATH FOR ME TO WIN THE NOMINATION WHICH IS WHY I'M SUSPENDING MY CAMPAIGN TONIGHT FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES." > ((ANCHOR)) FORMER NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE SAID IT'S CLEAR HE HAS NO PATH TO THE NOMINATION AND FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR TONIGHT'S DEBATE IN IOWA. HOW ABOUT CLEAR SKIES? IT’S COLD THIS MORNING. BUT I’LL TELL YOU, IT’S GOING TO BE A VERY NICE AFTERNOON AS WE GO INTO TOMORROW. HERE WE GO. WE’VE STILL GOT A MEDIUM RISK THAT SOME OF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS TOMORROW COULD BECOME SEVERE AND A MUCH HIGHER RISK AS YOU MOVE SOUTH INTO GREENWOOD, ABBEVILLE, ELBERTON, YOU ARE INCLUDED IN THIS. THE MAIN CONCERN ARE GOING TO BE VERY STRONG WINDS AS WE GO THROUGHOUT TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SO WITH THE CURRENT SETUP AND THOSE STRONG WINDS, AN ISOLATED TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT WITH THIS PARTICULAR ENVIRONMENT. BUT THAT HIGH RISK, BY THE WAY, EXTENDS THROUGH THE MIDLANDS. ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE COAST TOMORROW. SO THE MAIN IMPACTS AGAIN, STRONG WINDS, TORNADOES CANNOT BE RULED OUT. THERE COULD BE AN ISOLATED TORNADO OR TWO TOMORROW. THE RISK FOR WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS LOW. HOWEVER, WE STILL HAVE RIVERS THAT ARE STILL RUNNING PRETTY HIGH AND ACTIVELY FLOODING, SO ANY WATER OR ANY RAIN THAT WE ADD TO THAT WE COULD SEE ISOLATED AREAS OF FLOODING AS WE GO THROUGHOUT TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. LET’S GET YOU CAUGHT UP ON THE TIMING TODAY. JUST A BEAUTIFUL DAY. TALK ABOUT THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM. LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND THE WARMEST DAY OF THE WEEK. WE’RE BACK IN THE 50S. THAT’S JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL, BUT IT’S GOING TO LOOK AND FEEL GREAT HEADING INTO TOMORROW MORNING. AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR TWO IS POSSIBLE, BUT YOU CAN SEE MOST OF THE ACTIVITY REALLY GETS GOING AFTER 2 OR 3:00 TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THIS IS WHEN WE’LL SEE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND SOME OF THOSE ISOLATED DOWNPOURS POSSIBLY BECOMING THUNDERSTORMS. AND AGAIN, WITHIN THAT, THE RISK OF STRONG TO SEVERE. SO THIS WILL BE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. IN TERMS OF THAT TIME FRAME. HERE’S A LOOK AT 7:00 TOMORROW NIGHT. YOU CAN SEE AFTER THAT WE’LL START TO SEE IT. GET OUT OF HERE. SO AGAIN LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AND THEN AS WE GO INTO LATE FRIDAY NIGHT WE’LL GRADUALLY CLEAR OUT COLDER AIR BEGINS TO FUNNEL IN. BY THE WAY. AND SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL BE SUNNY. BUT IT IS GOING TO BE COLDER. AND ONCE THAT COLDER AIR ARRIVES, IT’S GOING TO SETTLE IN KIND OF MAKE ITSELF AT HOME. AND IT’S GOING TO STICK AROUND THROUGH NEXT WEEK. IN FACT, IT’S GOING TO BRING VERY LIKELY SOME FLURRIES TO LIGHT SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS AS WE GO INTO LATE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY, A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS FOR OUR AREA ARE POSSIBLE ON THAT DAY, BUT AS YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE, MOST OF THAT WILL CHANGE TO SNOW FOR THE MOUNTAINS HEADING INTO TUESDAY. ABOUT ANOTHER HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH OF RAIN. THAT’S WHAT WE ARE EXPECTING FOR YOUR FRIDAY. IF YOU GET UNDERNEATH A THUNDERSTORM OR TWO, YOU COULD GET HIGHER AMOUNTS, BUT THIS IS WHAT WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT AS A PRETTY GOOD AVERAGE FOR NOW. AND THEN AFTER THAT, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DRY AND COLD. TOMORROW, AN IMPACT DAY AS A RESULT OF THOSE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS COMING OUR WAY. 40 ON SATURDAY. THAT’S IT FOR A DAYTIME HIGH. WE’LL GET BACK INTO THE 50S OR PRETTY CLOSE TO THAT ON SUNDAY. AND THEN WE’RE GOING TO STAY IN THE 40S WITH FREEZING OVERNIGHT LOWS NEXT WEEK. EARLY NEXT WEEK, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT A HARD FREEZE FOR MUCH OF THE UPSTATE. LOOK AT THIS 35 FOR A HIGH IN THE MOUNTAINS ON TUESDAY. FALLING INTO THE TEENS. THAT’S NOT A WIND CHILL, FOLKS. THAT’S THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURE.
