JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Afternoon storms are firing up and today’s storms have the potential to be strong to severe, with intense rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning. The locations most likely to see the storms will be our coastal counties.
Today’s storms fade after 7pm and we will be quiet and muggy overnight, with temperatures sinking down into the mid to low 70s.
Friday we expect to warm up into the upper 80s before widespread showers and thunderstorms erupt during the afternoon hours. The storms peak between 5-7p.m. Heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds are possible.
The weekend looks similar with highs in the upper 80s and 60-70% coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Monday and Tuesday look quite wet as well, with 80% chances for showers and thunderstorms and afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
Driest day next week so far? Thursday with 50% chances for showers and storms.
TRACKING THE TROPICS
We are monitoring Tropical Depressions 13 and 14, which will most likely be named Laura and Marco over the next 24 hours. The westernmost system is expected to move into the Gulf, and the more eastern system is forecasted to head into South Florida as Category One Hurricane Monday into Tuesday.
