Tonight: Clouds increase. 60% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Cooler NW, milder SW. Wind: Light SE Low: 56-63

Thursday: 90% chance of thunderstorms. Storms could be severe. Damaging wind and large hail are possible. A tornado is also possible. Windy, muggy and hot. Wide range in temperatures possible from SW to NE, coolest well NE. Wind: SW->NW 10-15G25 High: 75-88

Thursday Night: Storms end early. Wind: NW 5-10 Low: 65

Forecast Discussion:

Clouds increase tonight as a warm front approaches. Lows range in the 50s to low 60s. The chance of rain is 60%. A thunderstorm is possible.

A warm front moves through the area Thursday. It will turn very muggy and very warm. Depending on how far north the front settles there could be a large temperature gradient from SW to NE. I think places well northeast will be in the mid 70s but behind the front temperatures soar into the mis and upper 80s.

The big story Thursday is the potential for significant severe weather. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, especially in the afternoon through late evening. Damaging winds, large hail and even a tornado are possible within any storms. Please be weather aware Thursday and monitor the forecast. The SPC has our area in an ENHANCED risk of severe weather. This is a 3 out of 5. It is possible this may need to be upgraded in some areas depending on how the warm front and winds set up. Hail could be 2” or larger and winds could possibly exceed 75mph inside the strongest storms. The next update to the SPC outlook will be at 2am Thursday. The timing of the severe storms looks to be in from 2-10pm from north to south as a cold front sinks southward. The chance of rain is 90%. Storms taper in the early overnight and move south. Lows stay in the 60s.

Friday and Saturday remain unsettled. The chance of rain is 40% Friday and increases to 90% Saturday. Both days will be muggy. Some storms are possible both days and Saturday could bring some gusty storms if things line up just right.

More comfortable air returns Sunday and Monday with highs in the low 70s.

If you are wondering about any tropical moisture from Laura as it makes landfall tonight, there is no indication of any impact on our area, including rainfall from it.
