Strong to severe thunderstorms could pop up in and around Houston this evening.
The biggest threat is to the north and west of the city, according to the National Weather Service. The main threats with these storms are damaging winds and large hail.

Much of Houston is under a marginal risk, although other communities north and west of the city are under an enhanced risk, the third of five rankings for severe weather risk assessed by the NWS Storm Prediction Center.
Skies will be partly sunny early in the day, but showers could pick up as early as 2 p.m. The bad weather threat will last through at least 10 p.m.
However, Thursday will have increasing chances of thunderstorms, which become likely Thursday afternoon.
Expect sunny skies – and high temperatures in the low 90s – for the weekend.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Bertha formed off the South Carolina coast. It poses no immediate threat to Houston.
