Severe Weather Threat: Birmingham Prepares For Stormy Week - Patch.com

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Coming off a week where the Birmingham metro saw temperatures dip near freezing, the highs this week will move into the upper 60s and lower 70s, and will bring along a threat for severe weather throughout the week.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has pointed to at least two severe weather threats for the week, including a Flash Flood Watch issued for the Birmingham metro Monday and Tuesday.

A post by the NWS Birmingham Monday morning reads, "High rainfall totals will be falling over land that is ALREADY full w/ water from recent weather. With 4-6 inches expected today & tomorrow, flash flooding is likely!! A few areas could have dangerous conditions w/ water covering roads, and even in places that don't normally flood!"

In addition to Monday's flood warning, the NWS said severe qeather is expecyed Wednesday night through Thursday morning with damaging winds up to 60 mph and tornadoes. "Make sure you have multiple ways to receive information and have a plan if a warning is issued for you," the NWS said. "We'll post more information about Wednesday as we get closer."
