Flood-hit towns are preparing for more severe weather as Storm Jorge brings heavy rain and strong winds to the UK.
In Shropshire and Worcestershire, engineers have repaired defences ahead of forecasts of 70mph gusts later.
In Yorkshire, the Environment Agency has said it plans to deploy extra pumps to fight flooding at Snaith.
There are about 80 flood warnings in place in England, largely in the South West and Yorkshire, as well as about 10 for Wales, mainly along the border.
Yellow weather warnings for wind are in place for much of the UK on Saturday, with further snow warnings in Scotland.
In south Wales, an earlier "critical incident" has now been stood down by police.
Emergency services also expect water levels to fall in Wales throughout the weekend.
In England, Environment Agency engineers have worked to repair temporary flood barriers in Ironbridge, Shropshire, and Bewdley in Worcestershire - both of which have suffered flooding in recent weeks.
The Environment Agency's head of floods and coastal management, John Curtin, called it an "phenomenal effort".
The work came after weeks of wet weather in the region.
A severe flood warning - meaning a danger to life - for the River Severn at Ironbridge was downgraded on Friday.
Earlier, police had called a "critical incident" in parts of south Wales on Saturday, including Pontypridd and the Ely area of Cardiff, as emergency services coordinated their response to the weather.
But the incident was stood down shortly before 11:00 GMT.
The latest storm comes after flooding caused by storms Ciara and Dennis earlier this month.
