NWS: Hail, severe storm system coming to San Antonio on Monday - mySA

A slow-moving storm system threatens to bring severe weather and hail to the San Antonio-area on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will cause rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms across South-Central Texas through Wednesday.

A few strong storms along and behind a cold front offer the potential for large hail between mid-morning and mid-afternoon Monday. The hailstones could be larger than 1 inch, the NWS said.

While the threats are minimal for Monday night into Tuesday, the area could see heavy rains Tuesday night into midday Wednesday. Pockets of heavy rainfall — 1 to 3 inches — are possible and could cause localized flooding in small streams with faster runoff and low-lying areas with poor drainage.

The estimated rainfall totals are highest to the north and northeast of San Antonio. The NWS forecasts low wind impacts and no tornadoes.

The showers and thunderstorms are set to end Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday and Friday should be sunny with highs near 61 degrees.
