Showers continue tomorrow, severe storms possible Saturday - Heart of Illinois ABC

PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We will see a break from some of the showers as we head into tonight, although a few lingering showers may be possible at times. Otherwise expect cloudy skies with lows tomorrow in the low 50s.

Another round of showers will move through the area tomorrow, mainly from the mid/late morning through the middle of the afternoon. Some locally heavy rain may be possible at times. It’ll be another cool day tomorrow with highs in the low 60s.

Expect a break from the rain tomorrow evening into early tomorrow night, but more showers and storms will be possible late tomorrow night into Saturday morning. Some of these could produce locally heavy rain and hail.

The main forecast question for Saturday will be how much can the atmosphere recover from these morning showers and storms. If we can recover, a risk for strong and severe storms will be possible later in the day on Saturday, especially for areas near and east of the Illinois River.

Isolated to scattered storms will form ahead of a cold front, initially as discrete cells which will then congeal into a squall line. Any tornado and large hail risk will be highest within any of the individual cells, although they can’t be ruled out within the squall line.
