The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is highlighting much of the South Plains at risk of severe storms, with the northern KCBD viewing area at an enhanced risk, from roughly mid-afternoon through Friday evening.

The greatest anticipated threats are very large hail and very strong wind gusts. Some of the storms late today are likely to produce hail from one to two inches, possibly larger with some storms, and wind gusts from 60 to 70 mph. There is a low threat of a few isolated tornadoes, with the greatest threat over the northern KCBD viewing area and the Panhandle.

The storms are expected to be widely scattered, that is hit and miss. The chance of measurable rain at any given location is low. However, if a storm passes overhead you may receive flooding heavy rain.

Before any storms, spotty very light rain showers may dot the area this morning. This afternoon will be partly sunny, warm, humid, and windy. Blowing dust is likely. The fire danger remains high - another NO BURN DAY.
