Latest updated blog: We enter the peak of severe weather season! -Doug - KoamNewsNow.com

Good Wednesday morning.  I hope your week has been great so far.  I finally feel like I am back in rhythm at work after working from home for a crazy 7 weeks.  First off, can you believe it is mid May.  I feel like I am going to blink a couple of times and ho ho ho Merry Christmas.  It is almost sad how fast time fly’s when you get older.  The best thing I have tried to do is slow down each day and enjoy the great things that happened during the day.  At least for me, the whole change in work and normal life schedule made March, April and so far May fly right on by.  So, we are entering the peak of Severe weather season.  We can have severe weather anytime during the year.  However, classic severe weather season in this part of the country is from March 20th-June 10th.  We have another little season from September 10th-November 10th.  But the peak of the season is May 10th-May 30th.  We have already had 6 or 7 events.  I usually track the exact ones but with all the covid-19 craziness, my stats didn’t get taken like I usually do each year.  So lets jump into it.  I had Memorial Day on a high threat but dropping it to moderate threat as it will be spread over Monday and Tuesday.  Hopefully it drops evening more.  I know the system will be there using the Heady Pattern, but with severe weather we have so many things that have to happen perfectly.  But the next three weeks, we have a lot of severe weather threats.

Severe

Scattered thunderstorms this morning into the early afternoon.  Some of these could be stronger but I am not expecting anything severe right now but will watch them.

Mid Morning

Mostly cloudy during the afternoon, much warmer and windy.

Planner

Thunderstorms will develop across western OK this evening.  They will march east tonight but most likely fall apart before they make it here.

Wednesday Night

Another round of scattered thunderstorms on Thursday evening.  These have a higher threat of these becoming severe.  So lets elevate the threat for now.  We will watch it closely over the next 24 hours.  IF we had severe weather it would be from 6pm until about 3am on Friday morning.

Thursday Severe

Long range forecast through the 4th of July is below.
