The National Weather Service of Newport/Morehead City, NC (NWS) continues to monitor the potential for severe weather to affect the Outer Banks, beginning tomorrow and lasting into the weekend as the remnants of Hurricane Sally passes over our area.
The NWS expects minor coastal flooding, heavy rain with possible flash flooding, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible.
Strong and prolonged northeast winds behind the remnants of Hurricane Sally will cause elevated water levels and possible coastal flooding, large waves, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion, and potential ocean overwash.
