The most recent assessment of destroyed or damaged structures in the Cameron Peak fire brings the total to 99 with three primary residences being destroyed.

The latest numbers from the sheriff’s office, compiled by the Larimer County Damage Assessment Team since the last report on Sept. 12, are 39 structures damaged or destroyed, said David Moore, a sheriff’s spokesman. Thirty-seven structures were destroyed and two were damaged. Six residential structures were destroyed, none of them primary residences.

Most of the structures impacted by the fire are various types of non-residential buildings, including barns, sheds and outhouses, Moore said.

Since the fire started on Aug. 13, there’s been a total of 99 structures damaged or destroyed, with 95 structures destroyed. Three primary residences have been destroyed.

The Cameron Peak fire, the third largest wildfire in Colorado history, has burned 125,006 acres, about 195 square miles, and is 21% contained. More than 850 firefighters continue to work on the fire.

Temperatures in the fire area dipped to below freezing overnight Sunday and “good” humidity on Monday helped firefighters efforts in battling the blaze, according to fire command.

Tuesday’s weather in the area will be mostly sunny with high temperatures ranging from 57 to 68 degrees. Northwest winds will gust up 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Firefighters on Tuesday will work on the perimeter of the fire and on structure protection, fire command said. Extremely dry conditions, sunny skies and warm weather are concerns.
