COLORADO SPRINGS — Sunday was the final day of the Pikes Peak Apex race.
The event is a four-day mountain bike challenge on the slopes of America's Mountain.
Along the route, riders make their way down dirt roads, jeep trail, and an alpine single-track.
The race begins in Bear Creek Regional Park and takes riders across Gold Camp Road, High Drive, and then Captain Jacks, Spring Creek, Columbine, and Buckhead trails.
"oday was definitely by far the toughest day for me. I got up this morning and my legs were as sore as they were after yesterdays stage, so I had a pretty tough day but other people had a really good day today. But I would say overall the profile of today's stage was pretty tough," Chad Berentsen said.
The event is a project of the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance.
