The National Weather service expects a cold front to move in today, taking away the late warm weather and giving the Ozarks some much needed rain.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely to show this afternoon and evening. The chance for severe weather is low, however, with Meteorologists at the National Weather Service estimating a likelihood of 5%.
If severe weather does occur, however, the most likely location will be to the southwest of Springfield.
“There is a very low end chance of a stronger, maybe severe storm,” says National Weather Service Meteorologist Drew Albert, “and I think if that does occur, we will be seeing some gusty winds.” Hail is also a possibility, with up to golf-ball sized hail.
Rainfall amounts are estimated to be between one half inch and three quarters of an inch.
