The weather around the United States has been fascinating this weekend. The most incredible thing I saw this morning was this:
That is a severe thunderstorm warning for the San Francisco Bay and metro area. An extremely rare severe thunderstorm event on a Sunday morning in August out over the coastal regions of central and northern California. I am not sure I have ever seen this before. Thunderstorms with frequent lightning and booming thunder out west.
Now, look at this from California yesterday:
The smoke and heat from a California fire caused strong updrafts, and the National Weather Service actually issued a Tornado Warning out there for winds over 60 mph. The smoke in the updraft ended up condensing into a rather significant "pyro-cumulonimbus" cloud.

Okay, let's get back to Kansas City weather. Well, it is so nice here, and look at tomorrow's forecast map:
The weather is going to be fantastic most of this week. High pressure is in control and the next chance of rain is not in the forecast until around Friday. Now, we will be paying close attention to little disturbances, one of which produce rain as close as Topeka this morning. Expect a high of 85 degrees today.
