A storm will bring showers, storms and possible severe weather across Minnesota through Friday. Meanwhile, hotter weather returns, keeping temperatures mostly above average through next week.
Stormy weather
Thursday morning is bringing sunshine across all of Minnesota, but a potent storm system moving toward the state will bring showers and storms into western Minnesota by afternoon. The wet weather spreads across the state Thursday evening and into the overnight.

For the Twin Cities, storms are most likely to arrive overnight.
As storms move in, and fueled in part by Thursday’s hot weather, severe storms are likely, especially in western Minnesota from late Thursday afternoon through the early overnight period.

Severe weather outlook Thursday and Friday

Damaging winds and hail are the biggest concern, but isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Central and southern portions of the state could also see a few isolated strong storms overnight Thursday and into Friday. Much of the state sees mostly cloudy skies, with scattered showers and storms into Friday morning. Then precipitation clears out northwest to east from late Friday morning through the evening.
Much of the state will see relatively light precipitation, with higher amounts probably in western and southern Minnesota.

The weekend turns quieter again, with dry skies likely Saturday and only spotty chances for afternoon showers or storms Sunday.
Hot weather returns
Thursday will already be noticeably warmer than recent days, with much of the state in the 80s, and a few 90s in southwest Minnesota.

This heat will help fuel the severe weather expected later Thursday.
Temperatures dip slightly Friday, due to the clouds and wet weather, with a few more 70s in northern Minnesota. Most of the state bounces right back into the 80s by Saturday, with a few 90s by Sunday.
After that, next week stays above average, with most of the highs in the 80s and 90s.
