Severe weather returns to forecast Tuesday - KSNB Local 4

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A cold front will make a push through the western half of the state through the day Tuesday. Ahead of the front, it’ll be humid with temperatures climbing back into the 90s. Southeasterly winds will be breezy again at 10 to 20 mph. To the west of the front, temperatures will mostly top out in the 80s and the humidity won’t be as high.

Tuesday evening, that cold front will be the focal point of developing thunderstorms. Chances will be greater the farther north you go in the Local4 viewing area. There's still a slight chance farther south. Severe weather will be possible. Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the main threats. An isolated tornado is not likely, but is possible. We'll see lows early Wednesday morning in the 60s and lower 70s.

Wednesday will be less humid behind the cold front. It’ll be cooler, but still quite warm with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. There’s still a small chance of rain and thunderstorms, but it will mostly likely remain dry for the vast majority of the area.

Thursday will be warmer with widespread 90s expected. Friday will still reach the low to mid 90s. During this time, humidity will start to creep back into the picture. The chances of rain and thunderstorms during these two days is slim, but not impossible. The majority of the area will remain on the dry side.

Independence Day weekend will feature dry weather will continue as the chances for rain and thunderstorms remain rather limited. Highs temperatures during this time will mostly be in the low to mid 90s.
