Rain showers rolled through today giving the ground a drink, but tomorrow could bring us the chance to see some stronger or even severe thunderstorms. The activity overnight will mainly be rain showers with an isolated rumble of thunder here and there. By Sunday morning many of us will have to carry the umbrella again for more rain and some thunderstorms. The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has placed Central and Southern KY under a Slight Risk for severe weather which means we have about a 10% chance that any storm we see could become severe. The main threat will be high winds, but torrential rain and even hail are possibilities too.
At this time the Baron model says the storms could be firing up as early as mid-morning, but more likely around midday or even afternoon. Once we get past this cold front and the action that comes with it, we'll still have to deal with more showers and thunderstorms as we roll into next work week. Rain chances do diminish some by midweek and that is when the heat takes off again toward the upper 80s by Thursday.
