A cold front moving across Minnesota Thursday is bringing some isolated showers and storms along with it through the morning. Then, into the afternoon and evening it could cause areas of severe weather.
Thursday’s forecast
A cold front that has been making its way through northern and central Minnesota will slowly push through the rest of the state Thursday.
It is already bringing a few showers and storms to the state, especially the Arrowhead, as of 7 a.m. Thursday morning. As the front makes its way south, it is likely to cause scattered showers and storms across southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and evening, and that includes a slight severe weather risk for southwestern Minnesota.
Wind and hail are the primary threat, but isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Temperatures are starting in the 50s and 60s Thursday morning, and high will be in the 70s and 80s.
Despite Thursday morning’s rain, conditions in northern Minnesota will be dry and breezy by afternoon, elevating the fire concern in northeastern Minnesota.
Friday will be drier and cooler behind the front, but more showers and storms are possible over the weekend. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
