19 First Alert Weather Day: Strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening - Cleveland 19 News

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A strong cold front will move into northeast Ohio this evening.

As the front gets closer, storms will begin to develop by mid-afternoon.

Since this will all be coming from the west, storms will move through Sandusky and surrounding communities first, and then everything will move east across the eastern portion of the state.

Northeast Ohio will be dry by midnight.

In the meantime, expect scattered storms through the late-afternoon and evening hours.

Some storms may be strong to severe.

The main threats will be damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.

Once the storms move out, sunshine will return to northern Ohio for Friday and beyond.

In the wake of the front, temperatures will be significantly cooler on Friday.

Expect highs in the low 70s.

Temperatures will gradually warm up through the weekend.

After experiencing the 7th-wettest July on record, and above-average rainfall so far in August, we’ll get to enjoy a nice dry stretch starting Friday.

At this time, the 19 First Alert Weather Team is forecasting dry conditions from this weekend through most of next week.
