
The number of people hospitalized with a confirmed case of COVID-19 has dropped to less than one-third of the peak it reached in July.
The 180 people confirmed to be hospitalized with the disease Thursday, Sept. 10, is 32% of the 550 coronavirus hospitalizations July 14. Hospital figures reflect one day earlier.
Riverside County’s numbers dipped into the 170s earlier this week, but haven’t been lower than that since March.
San Bernardino County, which reached a peak of 638 confirmed coronavirus hospitalizations July 25, also slipped below one-third of that number the same day, with 205 coronavirus patients in hospital beds.
Riverside County reported another nine deaths from COVID-19 Friday, Sept. 11.
Here are the latest numbers, according to county and state public health officials.
Riverside County
Confirmed cases: 55,073, up from 54,868 Thursday
Deaths: 1,103, up from 1,094 Thursday
Hospitalizations: 180 confirmed patients Thursday, down from 189 Wednesday, Sept. 9; 51 suspected patients Thursday, up from 49 Wednesday
Intensive-care unit: 53 confirmed patients Thursday, down from 57 Wednesday; 12 suspected patients Thursday, up from 10 Wednesday
Tests conducted: 564,345, up from 559,289 Thursday
Recoveries (estimated): 49,613, up from 49,176 Thursday
