Another wave of severe storms swept across Minnesota Friday into Friday evening.

The ferocious squall-line stretched all the way from the Iron Range through Duluth and down I-35 into the Twin Cities by Friday evening.

Multiple tornadoes

I count at least 7 preliminary tornado reports across central Minnesota Friday. That number could go higher as storm surveys are performed by local NWS offices.

Tornado sirens sounded in near Fridley and nearby communities as a tornado warning was issued Friday evening.

Winds gusted to 64 mph at MSP Airport. Tree damages reported in Robbinsdale.

Flooding

Severe storms in northern Minnesota caused flooding in several locations including the city of Grand Rapids.

1 NE Grand Rapids [Itasca Co, MN] PUBLIC reports FLASH FLOOD at 14 Aug, 6:57 PM CDT -- LOCALIZED FLOODING IN THE CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS. NOTABLE LOCATIONS INCLUDE ACE HARDWARE ON 5TH STREET AND OTHER DOWNTOWN BUSINESS LOCATIONS.

Xcel Energy reports around 55,000 customers in the greater Twin Cities area without power as of 9 pm.

The weekend forecast looks quiet and pleasant.
