Our dry trend is coming to an end. By the afternoon scattered showers and storms build back in and linger into the weekend.
This morning, we are starting off dry with fair skies and calm winds. Temperatures are in the 50s and 60s. High temperatures will be set in the later afternoon hitting in the 80s, once again the coal fields will be nearing 90 degrees.
Storms will form in the afternoon roughly around 3PM and have the potential to become strong or severe. If severe storms do happen the main threats will be damaging winds in excess of 58 MPH and large hail is possible. Cover those cars!
Can't completely rule out the chances for localized flooding. Being dry the past couple of days may save us, but localized flooding is possible since we did have a very wet month in May our soils may not be completely recovered. A Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall is issued over our area today.
Stronger storms will fizzle out around 10PM, but we could still hear rumbles of thunder overnight. Low temperatures tonight will be in the 60s and upper 50s. Tomorrow brings us another day with storms building in mainly in the afternoon. Storms shouldn't reach to severe status tomorrow, but we hold onto a chance once again for localized flooding.
Highs will be in the upper 70s and 80s with overnight lows still hitting in the 60s. Saturday brings another shot for scattered showers and a few storms. Temperatures will hit in the 70s and 80s, but lows for most will be right around average in the upper 50s and lower 60s. High pressure builds in for Sunday allowing a dry end to the weekend. Drier weather will last into the early portions of next week.
Tropical Storm Cristobal shouldn't have a direct impact to us, but it will impact the United States. The Gulf Coast (Texas through Florida) will witness strong storm surge, tropical storm force winds and heavy rainfall starting this weekend. The storm is forecast to hit Louisiana by Sunday night and will weaken as a Tropical Depression as it continues to head north into Oklahoma and Arkansas.
