SALT LAKE CITY — Two people were injured, and four were involved, when an avalanche was released late Sunday morning Pfeifferhorn Peak. This peak is above Little Cottonwood Canyon and Alpine on the border of Utah and Salt Lake Counties.
At publication, the injured skiers had not yet been moved off of the mountain.
According to officials from the Lone Peak Fire Department, four people were caught up in the slide and two of those people reported injuries. Nobody was buried by the avalanche.
The Lone Peak Fire District said that their Engine 202, Rescue 201, Ambulance 201, and Batallion 201 responded to the rescue along with Utah County Search and Rescue, a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter, and Lifeflight.
