USFS reopens another section of Cameron Peak Fire area - Loveland Reporter-Herald

The U.S. Forest Service has reopened the area north of County Road 44H (Buckhorn Road) and south of Old Flowers Road, which had been closed since the Cameron Peak Fire.

No additional roads or trails within the fire perimeter have opened, but the change opens up some general forest area, according to a news release.

Safety hazards remain within the burn area, including falling trees, flood risks, stump holes and rock fall danger, foresters cautioned.

Safety and natural resource protection are the reasons some areas remain closed. The general area that remains closed is all National Forest System lands east of the Laramie River Road north of the West Branch Trailhead and east of Colorado State Forest State Park south of the trailhead; west of County Roads 69, 63E, and 27; south of County Road 86; and north of Rocky Mountain Park and County Road 43.

Details of the latest closure and a map are available at https://bit.ly/2FyqCXV.
