Plumes of moisture are still being pulled into parts of the south-central U.S. from the Gulf and Pacific, allowing for heavy downpours earlier in the day across Texas.
Now, as we see some clearing behind these storms, we’ll be watching for the severe weather threat to portions of Oklahoma through the overnight. The daylight combined with leftover moisture will destabilize the atmosphere, with storms developing later in the day. Our biggest concern will be for large hail and the potential for isolated tornadoes.
This will be a late show of storms, so before you go to bed, make sure you have way to get woken up by severe storm alerts. Storms will fire between I-40 and the I-70 corridors.
Storms will continue into the overnight hours, pushing across the I-40 corridor into western Arkansas.
Storms will wake us up in southern Missouri on Friday, this will be the making of our severe weather threat on Friday across parts of the Midwest. More on that threat here.
The combination of a slower moving system with ample amounts of moisture will bring a potential for flooding. The greatest risk into Friday will be from the Central Plains to the Ohio Valley.
Stay with WeatherNation as we keep you updated on the flooding potential in Texas through Thursday.
