An anticipated increase in passenger traffic at Denver International Airport this weekend has prompted the temporary reopening of the Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot.
Customers can park at the lot from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, the airport said in a news release.
Passengers who park in Pikes Peak should allow an extra 45 minutes to get to the terminal because of ongoing bus driver shortages, the release said. Shuttle service in both economy lots, which is within walking distance of the terminal, will be limited while Pikes Peak is open.
Travelers this weekend should allow for extra time at the airport, arriving at the terminal at least two hours prior to their boarding time, airport officials said.
When Pikes Peak closes to incoming traffic, after Saturday, shuttle service will continue from the terminal to the lot so customers can get to their vehicles, the release said. The only form of payment at the shuttle lot is by a credit or debit card.
The Pikes Peak lot, at 75th Avenue and North Elk Street, costs $8 per day. Signs are posted to help direct motorists to the lot. DIA’s goal is to permanently reopen the Pikes Peak shuttle lot before the upcoming holidays, depending on its ability to hire bus drivers.
