Update, 10 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southeastern Montgomery County, Dickson County and Cheatham County until 10:30 p.m.

At 9:57 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 miles south of Clarksville to near Dickson, moving southeast at 50 mph.

Update, 9:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Montgomery County, Stewart County and central Houston County until 10 p.m.

At 9:09 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles northwest of Dover, or over the Land Between the Lakes, moving southeast at
40 mph.

Update, 7:50 p.m.: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Montgomery, Dickson and Cheatham counties has been canceled.

Update, 7:41 p.m.: Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Guthrie, or 13 miles east of Clarksville, moving east at 30 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Update, 7:30 p.m.: The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Montgomery County, northeastern Dickson County and northern Cheatham County until 8 p.m.

At 7:26 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles south of Clarksville, moving southeast at 25 mph with possible 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” the NWS alert said. “Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.”

Update, 7:05 p.m.: Robertson County is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 7:30 p.m.

At 7:03 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Springfield, moving east at 30 mph with possible 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Previously:

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Significant Weather Advisory has been issued for northeastern Montgomery and western Robertson Counties until 7:15 p.m.

At 6:46 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Port Royal, or 11 miles east of Clarksville, moving east-southeast at 20 mph, according to an NWS alert.

Pea-size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include Springfield, Clarksville, Coopertown, Adams and Cedar Hill. This includes Interstate 24 between mile markers 10 and 18.

Some strong to severe thunderstorms may continue through the early morning hours Sunday, according to the NWS. The main concerns with any strong thunderstorm development will be gusty strong winds as well as heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding.
