The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office issued a voluntary evacuation order Friday afternoon for residents near the Cameron Peak burn scar because of the potential for dangerous flash floods.
The Colorado Department of Transportation also closed multiple roads, including Colorado 14 through Poudre Canyon because of the potential for mudslides.
The evacuations called for people who live along Colorado 14 between Shady Rest Lane and Indian Meadows to leave if they are concerned for their safety, feel they need additional time to exit the area or have health conditions that may be aggravated by an evacuation. The sheriff’s office also recommended people move livestock.
Voluntary evacuations for flooding along Highway 14 in and near the Cameron Peak burn area. There are Flash Flood Warnings out for that entire area. Do not attempt to cross flowing streams and never drive through flooded roadways! #COwx https://t.co/BdlKTOQEKw

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office called off its search for a woman who went missing on July 20 when flood waters poured off the burn scar and through the Poudre Canyon. Diana Brown, 57, of San Antonio, Texas remains missing, and the search will resume if there are leads as to where she might be.
Brown was one of four people in her family who were vacationing at a family cabin in Larimer County when the Cache de Poudre River flooded. Her husband, David Brown, 61, her sister-in-law Patricia Brown, 59, and her father-in-law, Richard Brown, were killed in the flood.
Seven homes were destroyed in the flood, the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page said.
Rescue workers spent more than 400 hours searching for the missing on foot and in the water, and they used dogs and drones.
