Threat for Severe Weather Across the Western Half of Alabama Today - alabamawx.com

The SPC is more concerned that the high instability and moisture levels across western Alabama and much of Mississippi along with some stronger mid-level winds will produce the threat for damaging winds from wet microbursts this afternoon.

Because of that, they have issued a marginal risk for western Alabama and upgraded the risk over Mississippi to slight. The slight risk area nudges into southwestern Alabama.

Storms are expected to continue developing this afternoon and move south-southwest in the prevailing wind flow.

The storms will be multicellular in nature, meaning they will quickly build and collapse in clusters, leading to heavy, moisture-laden downbursts that will produce winds of 50-70 mph in a few cases.
