More than 30,000 still without power after severe weekend weather - MLive.com

DETROIT, MI - After a night of severe weather across the state, more than 30,000 Michigan residents are still without power as of noon Sunday.

DTE Energy currently has 1,191 crews in the field working to restore power to 28,713 customers who are without power, according to DTE’s dashboard. Most of the outages are located in the Metro Detroit area, with a few thousand Thumb residents also dealing with a blackout after a possible tornado struck Saturday evening.

“Right now, we’ve restored about 65% of the customers who were impacted, out of 88,000,” said Je’well Pearson, spokesperson for DTE. “The goal is to have the majority of the 28,000 remaining storm customers restored by the end of the day.”

2,378 Consumers Energy customers are currently without power, mostly concentrated in areas south of Battle Creek and west of Jackson, according to Consumers’ dashboard.

Estimated restoration times on the dashboards varied from Sunday afternoon to late Monday. Restoration estimates are added to the outage map as crews are assigned to each outage throughout the day, Pearson said. Affected customers can view the map for a better idea of when their power might be restored.

In a Facebook post, DTE warned residents to stay at least 20 feet away from any downed power lines and to immediately report any downed lines on its website.
