Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for southern Michigan; Here’s what to expect - MLive.com

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of southern Lower Michigan, central and northern Indiana and northern Ohio in effect until 1:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021.

The primary severe weather threats include scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely, scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible and a tornado or two possible.

Clusters of thunderstorms will continue to intensify, initially across northern and central Indiana early this evening. Some supercell storms are possible, while other storms will organize into clusters and bands capable of damaging winds and severe hail. A low tornado risk could also materialize as low-level winds increase later this evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch covers four rows of counties across southern Lower Michigan. The northern extent of the watch includes Grand Rapids, Alma, Ithaca and Flint.
