Severe weather in the Lowcountry leaves trees, powerlines down; street closures announced - Live 5 News WCSC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Severe weather in the Lowcountry Tuesday night left trees and powerlines down Tuesday night.

A severe thunderstorm warning issued for Berkeley and Charleston counties has since expired. Live 5 Chief Meteorologist Bill Walsh said heavy rainfall, gusty winds, dangerous lightning and hail passed through the Lowcountry this evening.

The Charleston Police Department has announced street closures due to flooding which include North Market Street and South Market Street. A full list of closures can be found here.

Downed trees have been reported in Beaufort County and Orangeburg County.

The Bluffton Police Department reported downed powerlines and trees along May River Road after severe storms passed though the area.

In Holly Hill, residents reported that a tree went down on Branchdale Highway after heavy winds and rain impacted the area on Tuesday evening. Randy Haas who took the pictures said the tree went down around 6:45 p.m. and the Vance volunteer fire company responded to work the scene.
