An injured speed flier, similar to a hang glider, was rescued Saturday after a crash on the Continental Divide Trail at the top of Peak 6 in Breckenridge.

The rescue took place at about 8:15 a.m. Saturday, according to a Summit County Rescue Group news release.

A group of three, two men and a woman, hiked up the trail from Copper Mountain resort and the woman was injured “while attempting a barrel role,” the release said. “She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and her accident was witnessed by a second group of paragliders who came to her aid.”

Flight For Life’s Lifeguard 2 helicopter flew over the scene and dropped two medical crew members near the scene of the accident, SMRG said, and two rescue team members were taken to the scene in a follow up flight. Passing hikers, including two emergency room doctors, helped to evacuate the injured speed flier to a landing zone about 3/4 of a mile below the accident site. Flight For Colorado then flew the woman to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.
