Part of Alabama faces the threat for severe storms on Saturday.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has included all of south and part of south-central Alabama in its severe weather risk outlook for Saturday.
Rain will be possible statewide on Saturday, but the best chances for storms will be across the southern part of the state.
“Oh boy here we go again with more active weather,” the National Weather Service in Mobile said in its Tuesday morning forecast discussion.
A warm front is expected to move northward over south Alabama on Friday night.
Forecasters said moderate to heavy rain and some storms will be possible along and north of that front.
Areas south of the front will have more warm, moist air and more instability and will face the potential for stronger storms.
Forecasters in both south and central Alabama will be closely watching the northward progression of that warm front. The risk for storms could shift more northward or southward depending on how far the front travels.
More storms — some of them severe — will be possible during the day on Saturday as another weather system approaches from the west, the weather service said.
The strongest storms could have damaging winds and hail, and a tornado will also be possible.
Those in southwest Alabama will also have to be on guard for flash flooding. Recent heavy rain has the ground already saturated, so it won’t take much to set off flooding, forecasters said.
Things are expected to dry out again starting on Sunday, and dry weather could last through the first part of next week.
