A warm front moving through the High Plains and Upper-Midwest will bring the chance for strong to severe storms today and tomorrow. The risk will be very isolated today, but the coverage area will increase for severe storms on Tuesday. Here is the very latest.
Monday
Isolated severe storms over South Dakota will be possible this afternoon and evening. These will be storms that ramp up there intensity and then fall apart very quickly.
Tuesday
Tuesday’s severe risk will be isolated, but cover a much larger area. Severe storms will be possible from the Plains of Kansas to the U.P. of Michigan.
Monday
Notice how the risk is over a very small coverage area…this is really showing what we mean by very isolated severe threat, but cities like Pierre and Mitchell will need to be weather aware.
Tuesday
The coverage area for severe becomes more widespread by Tuesday with isolated severe storms from Colorado all the way over to Lake Michigan.

Our in house forecast model is showing the today’s storms firing up during the afternoon and early evening. These storms look to be short-lived and should clear out of the region quickly. Tomorrow is looking much more active.
Tuesday
Tuesday’s storms will be ongoing through the afternoon and evening across this region and there will likely be storms lasting well into Wednesday morning. The severe risk for these areas will wind down Wednesday morning, but the energy will keep moving East and bring storms to that part of the Country later in the week.
