(KFVS) - We are issuing a First Alert Action Day for tonight through Sunday evening because of the threat for severe storms, including damaging winds, large hail and the possibility of a tornado.
Two rounds of storms are possible.
Overnight and into Sunday morning a cluster of storms will move into southeast Missouri and parts of southern Illinois.
The main threat with this first round of storms will be damaging winds.
Timing looks to be between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m.
The second round looks to arrive Sunday afternoon and into the evening hours, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Isolated pop-up thunderstorms look to be the primary threat for the Bootheel and western Kentucky.
The main threats will be damaging winds, large hail and the possibility of a tornado can not be ruled out.
Most models are not showing a lot of activity for Sunday evening, pointing to the cold front swinging through early enough to stabilize the environment.
Storms Sunday evening will depend on arrival time of the front.
Stay with KFVS on air, online and on the KFVS 24/7 weather channel on the Roku/Fire/Apple app.
Download the KFVS First Alert Weather app for alerts and updates.
