A cold front will be pushing into a warm and muggy air mass to produce heavy showers storms for areas of Texas and Missouri. Be sure to have a way to receive severe weather alerts. For some this is another day in a row where we are forecasting severe storms as we are in the midst of our secondary severe weather season, take these storms just as seriously.
This large coverage area is for 2 events. The first is the cold front moving through today. The second round of heavy storms will be with the remnants of Pamela pushing into the South.
The threat for damaging winds and very isolated tornadoes will be in the forecast for cities like Springfield and Columbia, Missouri. Have a weather plan in place if you live in these areas.
There will also be a tornado risk down in Texas as the remnants of Pamela arrive later tonight.
As storms have already started to move through Texas we will continue to monitor the progression into the Ozarks through tonight. Here is the latest timing with the heavy rain and storms.
By the late evening, storms start organizing better and a possible line of organized storms to bring heavy rain, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible.
Storms have already started moving through Texas Hill country and the I-35 corridor. This will continue to moves into northeastern Texas and southeastern Oklahoma, the Texoma areas may see severe storms yet again. Here is the latest timing:
Storms start to lose some intensity through the overnight hours. But bowing segments and a brief tornado will exist with surface based storms ahead of the front.
We mentioned heavy rain will be a concern for Texas over the next few days. Check out the amount of rain that could fall across the Lone Star State through Friday. Oklahoma and Arkansas could also see significant rain, but it will be more localized.
