SIDNEY - Large hail stones, ominous clouds and gusty winds led to active weather warnings Saturday evening in the Nebraska Panhandle.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for panhandle and northeast Colorado at 3:30 p.m. The first warning was issued at 3:57 p.m. in Crawford where 0.1" of rain fell with large hail.

Hail sizes ranged from quarter to baseball size throughout the region, according to reports. The larger hail fell in the northern Panhandle.

Potter received 0.13" of rain, Gurley reported 0.45" and Sidney got 0.32". 2.32" of rain fell north of Ogallala and Imperial received 0.21".

The rain in Imperial did not affect the final night of the Chase County Fair & Rodeo. The Granger Smith and the Josh Abbott Band shows continued as scheduled.

The severe weather did delay the start of the Lucas Minor concert at the Deuel County Fair in Chappell.
