GLENVILLE, N.Y. (WRGB) — A propane truck struck a railroad bridge northwest of Albany, N.Y., and the truck exploded into flames, Thursday evening.
Glenville Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle told WRGB the driver was alive but suffering third-degree burns.
The fire was knocked down fairly quickly, with departments from Schenectady and Saratoga counties on the scene, as well as hazmat and multiple state agencies.
The area will be closed for an extended period, so the tractor-trailer can be removed, and the bridge inspected.
The crash also affected electricity, but that situation is improving.
An outage map showed more than 1,200 customers in the area had lost power, but that number has been steadily declining.
