NWS: Severe Storms Across the Concho Valley Saturday Night - San Angelo LIVE!

SAN ANGELO –  While no Watches or Warnings have been issued yet, the National Weather Service office in San Angelo is expecting strong thunderstorms and localized flooding before dawn Sunday morning.

Scattered light showers, possibly accompanied by a thunderstorm, are expected to persist Saturday afternoon, yielding only a few hundredths of an inch of rain. Around 9 to 10 PM tonight, a line of stronger thunderstorms is anticipated to traverse Crockett, Irion, Sterling, Nolan, and Fisher counties.

This line may impact San Angelo and Abilene by around 11 PM, possibly resulting in an isolated severe storm with damaging winds and large hail. Thunderstorms are likely to persist tonight into Sunday morning, with a few potentially strong to severe ones, primarily concerning damaging winds. However, the risk also includes the potential for large hail and an isolated tornado. Some of these storms may generate heavy rainfall, potentially leading to localized flooding.

For the period spanning Christmas Eve through Friday:

Thunderstorms, possibly accompanied by heavy rainfall, could persist Christmas Eve morning to the east of a line extending from Brownwood to Junction. These storms are forecasted to move eastward out of the area by late Sunday morning.
