HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The day is starting off fairly cloudy around the area. Outside of some patchy light drizzle, it should remain dry. Skies will become sunny this afternoon. Winds will get rather strong today out of the south southeast, increasing to 20 to 30 mph. Gusts could approach 40 mph this afternoon. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s. Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the Panhandle this evening before diminishing later tonight. They may clip the far western parts of the Local4 viewing area. For the rest of the area, we’ll see increasing clouds after midnight. There may be some spotty rain or drizzle in Southeast Nebraska toward sunrise Saturday. Lows will drop into the low to mid 60s. Winds will remain breezy out of the south at 10 to 20 mph.
Saturday will be a partly to mostly cloudy day. Because of this, it may be just a little cooler than Friday with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. South southeast winds will be breezy at 10 to 20 mph. In the afternoon, some isolated thundershowers will be possible in Eastern Nebraska. Areas west of the Tri-Cities may see some stronger thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening. Large hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado are all possible. After midnight, much of the rain and thunderstorms will diminish, but many clouds will stick around. Lows Sunday morning will be in the low to mid 60s.
Sunday will again be partly to mostly cloudy and breezy with 10 to 20 mph winds out of the south. Highs will again be in the low to mid 80s. Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, more showers and thunderstorms will develop over western portions of the Local4 viewing area. These will then push eastward Sunday night into Monday morning. Severe storms will again be possible, especially in the western half of Nebraska.
More showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon and evening. This may be one of the better chances for showers and thunderstorms for the Tri-Cities area. Severe storms may again be possible for parts of the area. Highs on Monday will again mainly be in the upper 70s and low to mid 80s.
Tuesday’s chance for rain and thunderstorms will be lower with the best chance in the southeast. Severe storms may again be possible there. Highs on Tuesday will mostly be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Much of Tuesday night into Wednesday will be dry and breezy. Again, highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Rain and thunderstorms will return Wednesday night into Thursday. Thursday may be a bit cooler with highs in the 70s and lower 80s.
