A few gusty storms are possible ahead of and along the cold front in northern Florida. As the sea breeze interacts with the cold front and peak heating in the afternoon, scattered severe storms will be possible along Florida’s east coast that could have gusty winds and hail.

Storms will be ongoing Thursday morning into the afternoon as the front slowly sinks south. Heavy rain will also be a concern.

The cold front will make slow progress south through the afternoon. By 4-5 pm ET the influence of the sea breeze could enhance severe storm potential along Florida’s east coast.  A few storms could form as far south as West Palm Beach or Miami. Gusty winds and large hail are the main threats with these storms, along with heavy rain and flooding potential.
