WHAT TO EXPECT: A strong south flow will bring gusty winds, possibly topping 30 mph, starting on Thursday and continuing into the day on Friday. There is a good chance we will have a wind advisory issued for our area. We will start to see showers and possibly a thunderstorm on Thursday as a milder/unstable air mass builds into the state. Temperatures will be rising into the middle to upper 60s Thursday night. This severe risk will be greatest in areas along and south of I-20, with a marginal risk further north. While the risk further north is marginal, the threat is non-zero. Have multiple ways to receive alerts, like the WBRC First Alert Weather app and NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio. Also, make sure your weather radio has fresh batteries just in case there are random power outages. We also stream our severe weather coverage on the weather app. I can’t rule out some minor flooding with this system. However, the progressive nature of the system will help limit this risk. The severe threat will end by Friday afternoon with gradual clearing.
