The severe weather threat shifts southeast - Minnesota Public Radio News

Skies clear across most of Minnesota Thursday with slightly cooler temperatures. However, occasional storms linger in eastern and southern Minnesota, including a continued severe weather risk.

Thursday’s forecast

The storm system that hit central Minnesota with severe weather Wednesday are still moving through parts of the state as of Thursday morning.

The system is slowly moving out, so while skies are clearing across central and most of northern Minnesota, it is the eastern edge of the state, especially the Arrowhead and southeastern Minnesota, that is most likely to see continued showers and storms Thursday.

Some of the morning storm activity will diminish, then redevelop in the afternoon, and there is a risk for additional severe weather in southeastern Minnesota, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.

Both temperatures and dew points will be slightly lower Thursday. Highs will be in the 80s, and especially for northern Minnesota, drier air has moved, making it far less humid.

More showers and storms likely move in by Friday night. That weekend forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
