Stronger storms possible this morning, severe weather possible later today - KBJR 6

THIS MORNING: We're seeing this shortwave trough move into our region throughout the morning. Most of the severe threat will stay to our west, but western portions of our region could see some large hail, strong winds, and heavy downpours at times. This first wave will fizzle out as it moves closer to Lake Superior, giving us a little break between waves during the late morning/early afternoon hours.

THIS AFTERNOON: We'll begin the afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and a chance for some t-storms. As we head into the mid-afternoon, a warm front will bring us increased chances of thunderstorms, some of which could be severe. Any severe weather that develops in Minnesota and NW Wisconsin could produce large hail, strong winds, very heavy downpours, and even a tornado or two. The SPC has the bulk of our region under a 2% risk for tornadoes heading into this evening. We will continue to keep you updated on the severe weather threat throughout the day. On top of that, it will be hot and humid today. Highs will be in the upper 80's, with dew points sitting in the upper 60's and lower 70's. We'll see a 70% chance of storms. Our best timeframe for severe weather looks to be between 3pm-12am

OVERNIGHT: We'll continue to see a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Our threat for severe weather will begin to diminish as the sun sets. Storms will continue to move into Wisconsin as our system pushes through the region. A cold front sweeps through heading into Thursday morning, bringing a slight risk for severe weather to southeastern portions of our region as we wake up Thursday morning. I believe most of the severe threat will be out of our region by this time, but the SPC has our far southeastern portions under a slight risk of severe weather with a 2% chance of tornadoes. We'll continue to monitor this situation as we head into the rest of today.

THURSDAY: We'll see a 40% chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be stronger. Skies will begin to clear into the late morning and early afternoon hours. Highs will be in the mid 80's and lows will be in the low 60's.

FRIDAY: We'll see partly cloudy skies with highs in the low-to-mid 80's. Partly cloudy skies continue through the overnight with lows in the 60's.

WEEKEND: We'll see a couple chances of some showers and thunderstorms, mainly towards the afternoon on Saturday. Otherwise, we'll see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday.

Have a great day!
