INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Weather Alert for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Brown, Decatur, and Shelby Counties for Monday afternoon and early evening. The alert includes most of central and southern Indiana as the Heat Index will climb to between 95 and 100 degrees.
The combination of temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s and dew point temperatures in the lower 70s will result in the heat index reaching 95 to 100 degrees later today.
The Heat Index is also expected to reach 95 to 100 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
NWS advises you to drink plenty of water so you stay hydrated and to limit your outdoor activity.
