A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight Sunday for Boone and Kane counties.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Kankakee and Will counties in Illinois and Benton, Jasper, Newtown, Lake and Porter counties in Indiana until 11:15 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 9:45 p.m. for DeKalb and LaSalle counties. The warning extends until 10:15 p.m. for Livingston, Grundy and Kendall counties.
An early round of storms was expected to push through the area Saturday afternoon.
The afternoon storms could be strong, but are unlikely to be severe, ABC 7 meteorologist Greg Dutra said.

Scattered storms in the westernmost counties are possible through the rest of the afternoon but the main concern is another line of storms later in the evening, Dutra said.
The storms will likely arrive near 9:30 p.m., "but depending on if any storms pop this afternoon and a couple other factors there needs to be some wiggle room in that timing," he explained.
There is a threat of high winds and hail along with heavy rain, Dutra said.
As of 7:30 p.m., there were reports of winds of more than 80 mph in the quad cities and large hail. Those storms are moving east and will likely lose intensity but could still be severe.
A Severe Thunderstorn Warning was in effect until 3:45 p.m. for Paxton, Fairbury and Gibson City, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning that expired at 2 p.m. for southern Kankakee. It was then extended to northern Iroquois counties in Illinois, and southern Newton county in Indiana until 2:45 p.m.
Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph and damage roofs, siding and trees, according to the weather service.
